Why viewers pay more than streamers receive
When a viewer buys 1,000 bits for ~$14, Twitch keeps the ~$4 difference to cover payment processing, platform costs, and profit. Buying larger bundles (10,000+) comes with discounts that shrink the gap, which is why the viewer cost per bit varies. Occasionally Twitch runs bit sales or offers free bits for watching ads, which lowers the effective cost further.
Bits vs. direct donations
